Firstborn
Research has consistently linked firstborn children with higher levels
os academic achievement when compare to later-born children. In general,
studies show firstborn children are more responsible, assertive and
task oriented, and hold dpwn leadership posistions when they become
adults.
Second or Middle Children
Studies reveal that second and middle children feel inferior as they
are not as advanced as their big brothers and sisters. They focus
on areas different from whee their older siblings have achieved competence.
Middle children are team player and popular if from large families.
Last Born
The tag "the baby of the family" usually sticks with the
last born throughout their life. Because their older siblings have
nurtured them, they tend to develop strong social and coping skills.
Research shows they are the most successful and usually have great
self-esteem.
Only Child
Only children grow up relating mainly to adults. As adults, they are
achievement oriented and usually succeed at what they set out to do.
They have found to have difficulties with interpersonal relationships,
and are most likely to seek professional help for any psychological
problems.
