TANG REN DESSERT HOUSE [ ] - 21.11.2006 Tuesday

Had gathering with my friends at Tang Ren Dessert House at Ban Hock Road. It's located at the same row as Mita Cake House. At first our plan was to go to Junction Cafe but it's closed on Tuesday. The dessert house serves a variety of "tang sui"/"tong sui". If you would like to have dinner, you can get your order from next door, Zhi Wei. Here, they only serve desserts.

The yellow stuff in the transparent container is mango pudding(RM2.80). You'll get real mango cubes on top of the pudding. Hmm.. Portion was a bit small for me.

Left and middle: Herbal Dessert or "Gui Ling Gao"(RM3.00). You have to eat it with "tang sui"(syrup) as it's too herbal. I heard that "Gui Ling Gao" is very good for your skin hehehe... I don't like it. After eating it, your tongue, teeth and lips would turn greyish because of the colour. The colour is not artifical colour so no worries.

Right: I ordered Sweet Dumpling with Soya Milk (RM2.50). I was thinking of getting at least 5 sweet dumplings in there but there were only three :P A bit disappointed but it tasted GREAT! I'm not very fond of very sweet things but this one is just right. The soya milk has no sugar addded and it's just pure and thick soya milk. The dumplings had fillings in there. Hmm... I think they have different fillings for all three of them but I managed to found out two as I put the second dumpling straight into my mouth without seeing what's in there because I thought that they are all the same.

So, here's how the story goes... I ate one, it's red bean paste(I knew about this one as I've seen this previously). Second one, I thought it's the same, so I didn't bother and ate the whole thing, it tasted like red bean paste or it might not hmmm.. not sure, it could be lotus paste. I should have bite and see what's in there. Then the third one, my instinct told me that I should bite it instead of putting the whole thing into my mouth. I found out that it's peanut paste in there!! I prefer this one heheheh... The pastes are sweet but it blends well with the soya milk and of course the dumpling skin, making the sweetness just right, at least for me. I recommend this to you. One bowl is so not enough with only 3 in there :P I want more heheheh... *SLURP*

I recommend this place to you. The pricings are pretty reasonable. You don't get soft drinks there. All you get there are desserts and drinks that are healthy such as winter melon tea(RM1.80) and chrysanthemum tea(RM1.50). They have toast too. They also have porridge served every Saturday.

Do try it out :) The staffs there are pretty friendly too.
