La Beauté Expo (LBE) 2009 – Maison Monica Makeup Show

May 10th, 2009 · 12 Surrendered

As promised, the photos of Maison Monica Makeup Show at La Beauté Expo last Friday night. So hard to take photos, the lighting was really bad. It gave this purplish tinge to all my photos, ewww…

We thought that we were late but was right on time.

The stage and the lighting were really not up to my expectation.

Seriously, why is the stage looking like this? -.-” I think this is the worst stage set up I’ve come across covering so many events. Sorry to say so but this is the fact.

Really pitied the models too. I was worrying throughout the whole show that they might step on their own gowns and fall. It’s not helping also with the stage being so narrow. Scary…

Anyway, enjoy the photos.

    Couldn’t agree more…

Photo quality not good? I know why…normally in any shows, outsiders are prohibited to take any photos. Only the organisers official photographers are equiped with the professional flash light system that could cover come the colored stage light. So next time bring in you pro set if you dare….I think kuching people stil haven’t learn from infringement of intelectual property right…sorry to say that.

    Ha Ha, thanks for sharing.

In my humble opinion, I think the stage lighting isn’t friendly for photography. It messed up with the white balance, especially when it changes from one color to another. Even the external flash doesn’t help much in this case. In usual cases, photographers would prefer capturing the stage ambience, keeping the available lighting whenever possible. However, at times fill-in flash is used to eliminate the shadow cast if any.

Stage lighting plays crucial roles in events such as concert, performance and fashion runways. So, in this case, I’d think the stage lighting isn’t doing a good job in the show here.

Just my piece of two cents. 🙂 Cheers!

“So next time bring in you pro set if you dare….I think kuching people still haven’t learn from infringement of intellectual property right…sorry to say that.”

Hmmm, I wonder how “intellectual” the property of a stage show can get.

For F***ing sake, dude, its a PUBLIC show opened to the PUBLIC and the PUBLIC has the right to take pictures and spew whatsoever opinions as freely as they like. And in this sense, I believe Irene has done it in an intellectual manner.

White balance is a problem, like Allen has stated, and he is a professional photographer, do take his word, “ha ha”.

Allen, extremely agree. Even the official photographer had to manipulate the final product a lot and I could still see the purplish tinge in some of his photos. Well… Just judging from what I had seen in his final product from untrained eyes. If I’m not mistaken, he did commented about the lighting to me also as I was there with him or is it another photographer?(Too many photog there so mixed up already ;p) Anyway, I know I’m not the only one complaining about the lighting hahaha…

Robin, Oh well… What else can we say? People has his own opinion also. As far as I know, it’s for the public and there is no sign saying cannot take any photo and there is no announcement also unless the organiser is thinking that people would know. If this is the case, hmm… I don’t think they know this is Kuching hahaha… As what “ha ha” had mentioned, kch ppl don’t know the law.

Anyway, we were late and didn’t manage to get the pass from the organiser ;p
